Kabul: Clashes have erupted again along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Afghan Taliban forces crossed the border and attacked Pakistan, capturing several military posts. The Taliban's Defense Ministry stated that Afghan forces crossed the Durand Line and attacked in Kandahar and Zabul provinces overnight between Monday and Tuesday. Ministry Deputy Spokesman Sediqullah Nusrat stated that Afghan forces have so far captured eight Pakistani military posts.
Three Pakistani soldiers killed
The spokesman stated that five posts were captured in Kandahar, two in Khost, and one in Zabul. It is understood that clashes are still ongoing. Sources reported that Afghan troops crossed the border and captured three Pakistani military posts in Spin Boldak, Kandahar province. Three Pakistani soldiers were killed, while one was captured alive.
Afghan military sources reported that Taliban-ruled forces shot down another Pakistani drone. It was shot down in Shamulzai district, Zabul province, while it was on its way to attack a target. The source also stated that another drone was shot down in Kandahar on Monday. This brings the total number of Pakistani drones shot down by Afghan forces on Monday to four.
Air Strike on Pakistani Military Base
Earlier on Monday, the Taliban's Defense Ministry reported attacking several key military bases inside Pakistan. The ministry stated that the actions were in response to Pakistani military airstrikes on Kabul and other parts of the country.
- The ministry stated that the Afghan Air Force targeted military bases in Rawalpindi, Quetta in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other locations. Pakistani military bases have suffered significant damage.
- On Monday morning, Afghan forces targeted and destroyed a Pakistani armored tank in front of the Angoor Ada base in Paktika.
- The clashes were not limited to air strikes. Afghan forces also launched retaliatory attacks against Pakistani forces in the Angoor Ada area.
- The Afghan Defense Ministry stated that the military operation has forced Pakistani forces to retreat in several locations.
- More than 100 Pakistani soldiers have been killed since the Taliban forces began their counterattack, while Afghan forces have captured more than 30 checkpoints.
