Washington: America is now fearing an Iranian attack. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has warned police departments in California that Iran may launch drone attacks on the US West Coast. ABC News reported this, citing the FBI alert. The alert states that Iran may launch such attacks to retaliate for US attacks.
This warning comes at a time when war has broken out in the Middle East following attacks by the US and Israel. Iran has targeted US bases in Israel and throughout the Middle East in retaliatory attacks. The alert, citing intelligence, states that Iran had considered the idea of launching drones from a ship near the US coast.
Planned Attack Near the US Coast
The FBI alert stated that it recently received information that "in early February 2026, Iran was reportedly attempting to launch a surprise attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) from an unidentified vessel near the US coast." It stated that an unidentified target in California was the target.
The FBI still lacks complete information.
The alert also stated that operational details are currently lacking. The FBI stated that it has no information about the timing, method, and targets of the attack, nor about the perpetrators. The alert did not specify which cities or locations could be targeted.
US President Donald Trump dismissed the concerns raised in the alert. When asked if he feared Iranian retaliation within the US, Trump replied, "No, I do not." Meanwhile, California has increased security surveillance following the alert.
