Tehran: Kurdish fighters have begun fighting against the Iranian government. They have reportedly entered Iran from areas near the Iraqi border and initiated ground operations. These fighters will launch ground attacks against the Tehran regime. Iran is being bombed by the US and Israel. If Kurdish groups, with their support, engage in ground combat, the war in Iran could escalate.
The Israeli news website Jerusalem Post, quoting Israeli and US officials, claimed on Wednesday that hundreds of Kurdish fighters are crossing into Iran from the Iraqi border. Kurdish groups on the Iran-Iraq border have been opposing Tehran. Kurdish groups operate from the Kurdistan region of Iraq along the Iranian border.
Kurds Seeking Opportunity in the Situation in Iran
Reports indicate that armed Kurdish groups are preparing to participate in a ground operation in western Iran. The aim is to attack Iranian security forces and destabilize the government in Tehran. If the Iranian military fights the Kurds in the border area, this will be exploited to create chaos in major cities inside Iran.
The Jerusalem Post quoted a senior Kurdish source as saying that they see the current situation in Tehran as a major opportunity. He said that this is a significant opportunity. Heavy military pressure on Iran and Israeli and American attacks targeting government infrastructure have weakened Tehran's authority.
US-Israeli Contacts
Continuous talks have been reported between the Donald Trump administration and Kurdish groups in recent days. This includes talks with Kurdish leaders in Iraq as well as leaders of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups. Kurdish groups could serve as a ground element for Israel and the United States, destabilizing the Iranian regime in certain areas.
The Kurdish army will receive support from the United States and Israel for such activities. This support includes intelligence sharing, military assistance, and creating operational conditions that allow Kurdish fighters to launch attacks inside Iranian territory. However, the Iranian regime and the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have denied reports of Kurdish activities, stating that these reports are aimed at destabilizing Iran.
