Patna/Delhi: It is said that victory on the battlefield and in politics is always determined by strategy. History bears witness that strength does not always prevail, but rather a well-timed plan plays a key role in victory. While the US-Israel Operation Epic Fury is currently underway globally against Iran, Operation Lotus against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appears to be successful in Bihar.
Own Pawns
Operation Lotus often involves the opposition camp as well. Something similar may have happened in Bihar. The BJP used some Janata Dal (United) MPs as pawns. The BJP wanted the Chief Minister to be from its party this time. Now, perhaps its dream is about to come true. But the most important question is why Nitish decided to leave the post of Chief Minister and enter the Rajya Sabha. Why did he suddenly feel the urge to leave the post he held for 20 years? The question is why he didn't express this desire during the presidential and vice-presidential elections. Why did he leave Patna and go to Delhi now?
What was the reason?
Many discussions are circulating in political circles. Is it pressure from the BJP or is Nitish himself doing this for the political future of his son Nishant? No one could have imagined such a thing about him. But sometimes, situations arise in our lives when principles and values have to be abandoned. This time, Nitish's stance reflects something similar.
This was bound to happen.
In recent times, Nitish Kumar's strange behavior has troubled his party, government, and ally BJP. His actions in the Assembly, election meetings, and government events have become a topic of discussion in the state and the country. In the last two years, Nitish Kumar has neither given media interviews nor held any press conferences. Perhaps this is why he decided to leave the post of Chief Minister and enter the Rajya Sabha.
The Maharashtra Example
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is in power in 21 states and union territories, with the BJP as its chief minister in 14. The party always seeks to have its own chief minister in states with a high number of seats. In Maharashtra, the BJP and Shiv Sena were in alliance, but Uddhav Thackeray wanted to become the chief minister. When the BJP refused, Uddhav Thackeray formed a government with the Congress and NCP. Later, the BJP split the Shiv Sena and made Eknath Shinde the chief minister. In Bihar, too, the BJP has consistently eyed the chief minister's post. In 2020, Nitish's party came in third, yet the BJP still made him the chief minister.
BJP's Move
Although Nitish became the CM after the NDA's victory in the last assembly elections, the BJP took the post of Home Minister. Now, his priorities seem to be his health and the future of his son Nishant. It seems that Nitish has taken refuge in the BJP. After becoming a Rajya Sabha member, there is a possibility that he will be included in PM Modi's cabinet. This will be the first time Nitish will work under PM Modi's leadership. But the question is why did he want to go to the Rajya Sabha just three months after becoming Chief Minister?
Who Will Become the CM?
Nitish is well versed in both pros and cons. Meanwhile, the BJP's strategy is restrained and long-term. JDU currently lacks a strong Chief Ministerial candidate, and Nishant, too, cannot become CM without becoming a member of the Legislative Council or Legislative Assembly. There are many examples in history, such as Rajiv Gandhi, Hemant Soren, and Rabri Devi, who have been unpredictable in politics. Now, there is speculation that the BJP may field a CM candidate from the backward classes. These include Samrat Chaudhary, Dilip Jaiswal, and Nityanand Rai. However, the decision will rest with PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
What Will Nishant Do?
Nitish demonstrated his Chanakya policy by serving as Chief Minister for 20 years without a majority. Following his decision to go to Delhi and leave the Legislative Council, there is speculation that his son Nishant could become the potential Deputy CM. Although no official announcement has been made, Nitish always maintains a balance between the party and its workers. Now it will be interesting to see Nishant's role and what his position will be in the government.
