Patna MP-MLA court acquits JDU MLA Anant Singh in Rs 10 crore case

Patna: There is good news for JDU MLA Anant Singh, known as 'Chhote Sarkar' in Bihar politics, on the legal front. The special MP-MLA court in Patna has honorably acquitted him in a high-profile case of demanding Rs 10 crore in extortion, which is more than a decade old. Special Judge Pankaj Kumar Malviya pronounced the verdict. The prosecution completely failed to present any concrete evidence or witnesses against the MLA in court. Following this decision, there is a celebratory atmosphere among Anant Singh's supporters, who are calling it a victory of truth.

A huge sum was demanded from the builder

This entire dispute dates back to 2014, when Raghavendra Pratap Singh filed a First Information Report (FIR) in the Shri Krishnapuri police station area of Patna. According to the allegations, four people, including the MLA's close associate Bantu Singh, entered his house and threatened him, saying, "Give Rs 10 crore to Anant Singh." Following this complaint, the police filed a charge sheet against MLA Anant Singh and Bantu Singh, on which legal proceedings had been ongoing for the past 11 years.

Court delivers verdict due to lack of evidence

During the hearing in the special court, the prosecution's case proved to be quite weak. The MLA's lawyer, Sunil Kumar, said that apart from the investigating officer (IO), no other witness appeared in court to give evidence. Due to the absence of witnesses and lack of documents, the court concluded that the allegations against Anant Singh could not be directly proven. On this basis, the court ordered his and Bantu Singh's release due to lack of evidence. Enthusiasm visible among supporters

As soon as the verdict was announced, supporters present outside the court premises expressed their joy. Getting rid of this 11-year-old criminal case is considered crucial for Anant Singh's political future. This decision has brought great relief to the MLA, who had been fighting a long legal battle, as it has cleared him of a serious criminal charge.
