Tehran: Making a major announcement on Monday, Donald Trump declared a five-day suspension of attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure. Trump claimed that talks to end the war with Iran were in progress and stated that a highly respected Iranian official was involved in the process. However, Iran has asserted that it has held no direct talks with the United States. Furthermore, Iran has presented the US with a list of conditions for bringing the conflict to an end.
Iran Demands Compensation for Damages
Mohsen Rezaei, the military advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that the conflict would persist until Iran is compensated for the damages it has sustained and the sanctions imposed upon it are lifted. Rezaei emphasized that Iran seeks international guarantees ensuring that the United States will not interfere in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic.
Meanwhile, a news outlet, citing an Iranian official, reported that Tehran has forwarded a comprehensive list of conditions to the US for ending the hostilities. The official clarified that no actual negotiations are currently taking place; Iran has merely conveyed its conditions. He noted that this message was transmitted through intermediaries. The official outlined the conditions as follows:
Iran's Conditions for Ending the War
1. A simultaneous ceasefire must be implemented across Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq. Iran has demanded guarantees that no further attacks will be launched against it, as well as the closure of US military bases within the region.
2. The official stated that there would be absolutely no bargaining or negotiation regarding Iran's missile program. Given its defensive nature—specifically in the context of countering Israel—this program will continue without alteration; indeed, it is set to accelerate even further in the event of a ceasefire. 3- Citing an Iranian official, the Drop Site reported that, in light of the U.S. violation of international laws and Israeli attacks on nuclear facilities, Iran will formulate a new nuclear policy. The official stated that enrichment activities would continue.
4- In any future agreement, Iran will demand compensation for the damages inflicted by attacks carried out by the United States and Israel. Rezai had also expressed similar sentiments in his statement.
5- Iran has called for the establishment of a legal framework governing the Strait of Hormuz.
6- The demands also include calls for legal action against media figures who harbor a hostile attitude toward Iran.
Iran Dismisses Trump's Claim as False
Iran has denied engaging in any talks with Trump, asserting that such statements are being made to stabilize the markets and to extricate the U.S. and Israel from the quagmire in which they find themselves trapped. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, stated that Iran is demanding a comprehensive and memorable punishment for its attackers, and affirmed that all officials stand firmly alongside their Supreme Leader and the people.
