WhatsApp tests subscription model, ads likely for Status feature

We all use smartphones in different ways, and everyone has different applications on their phones. However, there is one app that is on everyone's phone, and that is WhatsApp. Now, using WhatsApp will soon no longer be free. According to reports, WhatsApp is also going to introduce a subscription model. However, this doesn't mean you'll have to pay to send messages on WhatsApp. This subscription feature will be for WhatsApp's Status feature. Let's learn in detail about the changes that may come to the most widely used messaging app.

    Ads are coming to WhatsApp

According to reports, WhatsApp is going to introduce ads in its Status tab. Despite user opposition, WhatsApp has been working on this for a long time. Now, it has been reported that WhatsApp is not only sticking to its decision but may also introduce a subscription plan. All these details have come to light after examining the code of WhatsApp's new version 2.26.3.9. This means that in the future, WhatsApp may introduce a 'paid ad-free subscription' model, i.e., a model where you pay to remove ads.

What will WhatsApp's paid ad-free subscription offer?

Now the question arises, if you don't have to pay for sending messages on WhatsApp in the future, then what will WhatsApp offer in its subscription? This subscription plan is being introduced by WhatsApp for its Status feature. This means that WhatsApp will show ads in the Status section to users who do not subscribe to WhatsApp. On the other hand, those who pay for a WhatsApp subscription will not see ads in their Status.

When will WhatsApp's subscription model start?

There is currently no official information from WhatsApp regarding its upcoming subscription model. Information about WhatsApp's subscription model has currently been revealed only through the code of its beta version 2.26.3.9. In this situation, WhatsApp may not introduce its subscription model immediately, but it can be assumed that WhatsApp will introduce this model at some point.

WhatsApp Business users can place ads

It's worth noting that WhatsApp has a separate app for business users. This app is called WhatsApp Business. It is used by people who run some kind of business. Through this app, they can reach their customers with their products and services. Notably, WhatsApp Business users have the option to place ads within their app to reach a wider audience. Currently, ads placed by these users appear on other Meta products such as Facebook and Instagram. It is possible that in the future, after the introduction of the subscription model, these ads will also be visible to regular WhatsApp users.
