Muscat: A meeting will once again be held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on some of the most important issues of the geopolitics of West Asia. There will be a meeting between Iran and America in Muscat on Tehran's rapidly growing nuclear program. There is no possibility of an immediate agreement between America and Iran, but this dialogue matters for both countries.
Trump has threatened Iran
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened that if an agreement is not reached, he will launch air strikes targeting Iran's nuclear program. At the same time, Iranian officials have been constantly saying that they can try to make nuclear weapons by enriching their uranium reserves. In such a situation, tensions between the US and Iran remain.
Who will mediate between the US and Iran?
The US has relied on Oman for years to negotiate with Iran, including secret talks held during Barack Obama's presidency, which resulted in Iran signing a nuclear deal with world powers in 2015. Earlier, Iran had also resorted to Switzerland for talks with the US.
Iran has material to make a nuclear bomb
According to the report, uranium enriched up to 60 percent is technically considered weapons-grade, that is, just one step away from 90 percent enriched uranium used in the manufacture of nuclear weapons. The IAEA's November 2024 report estimated that Iran had 182.3 kg of uranium enriched up to 60 percent. Whereas, the agency said in its report released in August that Tehran had produced 164.7 kg of uranium enriched up to 60 percent.
