Amid India-Pakistan tension, North Korea fires missiles into the sea

Seoul: North Korea on Thursday fired several ballistic missiles towards its eastern sea, which has further increased tension in the Korean peninsula. The South Korean army said that these missiles were launched from near the Wonsan port, and they are believed to be short-range ballistic missiles. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said that it is not yet clear how far the missiles went. After this action of North Korea, the army has increased surveillance and shared the information of this launch with America and Japan. Let us tell you that there is a lot of tension between India and Pakistan for the last few days. India has also attacked terrorist bases in Pakistan on April 7.

Missile launch for the sixth time in 2025

Let us tell you that this is the sixth time North Korea has launched a missile this year. Earlier on March 10, it fired several ballistic missiles when the US and South Korea were starting their annual military drills. In recent months, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has accelerated his nuclear and missile program. Also, he is sending weapons and soldiers to Russia in the war against Ukraine. On Wednesday, North Korean state media reported that Kim ordered his weapons factories to speed up the production of artillery shells as he further strengthens his partnership with Russia.

North Korea is giving military assistance to Russia

Last month, North Korea admitted for the first time that it had sent 15,000 soldiers to Russia to help take back the Kursk region of Russia, which was occupied by Ukraine last year. According to South Korean intelligence, about 5000 of these soldiers have either been killed or injured. Washington and Seoul have also accused North Korea of supplying a number of military equipment such as cannons, shells and ballistic missiles to Russia. This latest missile launch has raised concerns in the region. South Korea, the US and Japan are monitoring the situation together.
