MP-MLA court has ordered a re-investigation in a 17-year-old case against former cabinet minister Azam Khan in Rampur. The case is about allegedly destroying a person's property for not donating Rs 5 lakh to Jauhar University.
According to the case, on 19 July 2006, Afsar Ali Khan filed a complaint against Azam Khan and other unknown people. It was alleged in the complaint that his house, factory, flour mill, and cellar were demolished with a bulldozer for not donating Rs 5 lakh to the university. Also, the land was forcibly occupied and threats were given to kill.
Objection to the final report
The victim's family claims that they were doing business with papad, flour, and cellar on that land for about 10 years before the incident. In the then SP government, the police had filed a final report in the case. Now deceased Afsar Ali Khan's son Zulfiqar Ali Khan has filed a petition in the court objecting to the final report.
According to the plaintiff's advocate Awadhesh Kumar, the MP-MLA court has ordered a reinvestigation considering the seriousness of the case. This order has brought new hope of justice for the victim's family.
