China Deploys Security Forces in Pakistan’s Sindh: Growing Threat Signals for India

Islamabad: Anti-government protests are not new in Pakistan's Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but in recent times, Sindh province has caught the attention of the world. In Sindh, people are constantly seen on the streets against the government and army of Pakistan. Chinese citizens have also been attacked in Sindh. This has resulted in the entry of Chinese security companies in Sindh. On one hand, this entry is becoming the cause of tension in Sindh, while on the other hand, it is also a cause of trouble for India in terms of security.

According to the report of Eurasian Times, Pakistan's Sindh province is getting trapped in a big crisis. On one hand, the role of the Pakistani army is increasing there, on the other hand, Chinese private security companies are strengthening their hold in this area. This shows that military cooperation between China and Pakistan is increasing. This is a warning bell for India because there is a possibility of Chinese army being deployed near the Indian border.

Chinese security personnel have reached Sindh

China has sent its private security personnel to Sindh province for the first time in March this year under an agreement. This is a big step by China to increase its security presence abroad. This step has been taken after increasing attacks on Chinese citizens. This shows that China is coming forward directly to protect its strategic interests.

Baloch separatist groups in Pakistan have targeted Chinese citizens and the CPEC project. In response to this, Beijing has increased its security. China's private security personnel are working together with Pakistani forces here. This is the first time that Chinese security personnel have been deployed in Sindh, Pakistan. For this deployment, China has entered into an agreement by putting pressure on the Shahbaz government of Pakistan.

Why is it a cause of concern for India

China's growing security role in Pakistan is not limited to its economic interests. It has direct strategic implications for India. What is most worrying for India is that China is providing military assistance to Pakistan along the LoC. This includes the construction of bunkers, supply of drones, encrypted communication systems and radar technology. All these things increase Pakistan's surveillance and attack capabilities against India.

Increasing military cooperation with Pakistan is part of China's strategy to encircle India. This is further strengthened by China's growing influence in Sri Lanka and Nepal. Intelligence cooperation between China and Pakistan has increased the fear of cross-border surveillance in Indian territory. There is speculation that if attacks on Chinese citizens continue in Pakistan, Beijing may officially deploy its army (PLA) there. This would be a dangerous change for regional stability and India.
