    Dalai Lama Granted Z-Category Security: 12 Commandos, 6 PSOs Deployed After Intelligence Threat Alert

    Dalai Lama Z Security​: The Home Ministry of the Government of India has decided to give Z category security to the Dalai Lama, the supreme spiritual leader of Buddhism. This security has been given based on the threat report of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Under the Z category security, a total of 33 security personnel will be deployed for the security of the Dalai Lama.


    The 89-year-old spiritual leader will get a total of 33 security personnel, which includes armed static guards deployed at his home, private security officers providing round-the-clock security, and armed escort commandos in shifts. Apart from this, trained drivers and surveillance personnel will be on duty at all times to ensure his safety.


    What will be the security arrangements?


    Ten armed static guards from 33 security forces will stay at his house. At the same time, 6 personal security officers (PSOs) will be present with him around the clock. Also, 12 commandos who will provide security to him in three shifts. 2 watchers who will monitor in shifts. 3 trained drivers, who will be with his convoy at all times. Apart from this, special surveillance and other arrangements have also been implemented for his security.


    Who is the supreme spiritual leader of Buddhism, Dalai Lama?


    The Dalai Lama was born in 1935 as Lhamo Thondup. When he was 2 years old, he was considered the reincarnation of his predecessor Tibetan religious leader. In the year 1940, he was recognized as the 14th Dalai Lama in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet.


    At the same time, in 1950, China attacked Tibet. After this, a rebellion against China failed in 1959, due to which the Dalai Lama came to India. Since then he has been living in exile in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his efforts for non-violence and peace.
