Global Focus Shifts to Air Defense; What India Is Doing After Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: Focus on airspace security has increased all over the world. The Israel-Hamas war worked to change the world's thinking about airspace security. Also, Operation Sindoor also highlighted how important a strong air defense system is. America also announced two months ago that they would build a Golden Dome just like Israel's Iron Dome system. Now America has also selected the design of its missile defense system Golden Dome.

During Operation Sindoor, India's strong air defense system foiled every attack from Pakistan, be it a drone attack or a missile attack. But the Indian Armed Forces destroyed Pakistan's air defense system and destroyed many important airbases of Pakistan along with terrorist bases. When Hamas attacked Israel, a discussion started on Israel's Iron Dome, whether the Iron Dome system was not completely successful. After this, when Iran fired hundreds of missiles on Israel, Israel claimed that the Iron Dome intercepted and destroyed most of the missiles. After which the focus on air defense has increased everywhere.

    America's Golden Dome

US President Donald Trump has said that the US has chosen a design for the future 'Golden Dome' missile defense system. This system will become operational by the end of his tenure, i.e. by 2029. The purpose of the Golden Dome is to deal with the threat of possible air attacks on America. The Golden Dome will also be able to provide protection from ballistic and cruise missiles. This system will be equipped with space-based sensors and the Golden Dome will work on a whole network of satellites. It will detect incoming threats, track them and then destroy them.

    Israel's Iron Dome

Israel's Iron Dome system has radars that detect the incoming object, its speed and direction. The control center estimates the threat from the object and whether it is going to fall at a place where there will be damage or in an empty area. If it seems to be a threat, then the missile firing unit launches the missile and shoots down the object. There are 20 interceptor missiles in one launcher. Israel has other systems along with the Iron Dome system that intercept medium and long range missiles, that is, stop them and shoot them down. David's Sling intercepts missiles with a range of 40 kilometers to 300 kilometers. The Arrow system can intercept missiles with a range of up to 2400 kilometers.

India's 'Rakshak-Suraksha Kawach'India has also started talking about 'Rakshak-Suraksha Kawach'. Recently, DRDO presented the concept of 'Rakshak-Suraksha Kawach' just like Iron Dome. It showed how DRDO can integrate all the equipment meant for air defence and create a strong security shield. DRDO's DG of Electronics and Communication B.K. Das said that 'Rakshak-Suraksha Kavach' has two parts. The first is surveillance and the second is attack. There are early warning systems, surveillance drones and satellites for surveillance. There is a long range radar on the ground which tracks any aerial threat from the enemy. There are hard kill, soft kill, surface to air missile, artillery gun and laser beam technology to engage it. He said that all these can be integrated at a very low cost and in a very short time.
