Iran Launches Missile and Drone Attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain

Kuwait City/Tehran: Kuwait came under attack by missiles and drones on Wednesday morning. The Kuwaiti military stated that its air defense systems are intercepting incoming enemy missiles and drones. Concurrently, residents across the country have reported hearing the sounds of loud explosions. In its preliminary statement, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army confirmed that air defense systems are actively countering enemy missiles and drones. They further clarified that the sounds of explosions heard were a result of these interception operations.

Iran Claims Attacks on US Bases

Kuwait has not specified the origin of the attacks. However, shortly before these events, Iranian media reported that sounds of explosions had been heard in the vicinity of Qeshm Island. Meanwhile, Iran's state broadcaster, IRIB, has claimed that US military bases located in Kuwait were the targets of the attacks.

IRIB characterized the attack as a response to hostile actions allegedly carried out by the US in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the area around Qeshm Island. State television reported that US military bases situated in Kuwait had been struck. Conversely, US Central Command has stated that the ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by Iran were successfully thwarted.

Bahrain's Ministry of Interior has also reported the activation of warning sirens. The Ministry stated that a warning siren was sounded on Wednesday, urging citizens and residents to remain calm and to proceed to the nearest safe locations while strictly adhering to official security directives. US Military Launches Retaliatory Strike Against Iran

The Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, stated in a release that US forces successfully intercepted several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.

The statement noted that Iran fired multiple ballistic missiles toward its neighboring countries; however, none of them reached their intended targets. Two Iranian missiles fired toward Kuwait either fell short of their targets or broke apart in mid-flight. Three missiles fired toward Bahrain were promptly intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense forces.
