Iran missile and drone strikes damage Dubai’s Burj Al Arab and international airport

Dubai/Tehran: Following the US and Israeli attacks, Iran has launched a series of attacks in the Middle East, targeting the United Arab Emirates' city of Dubai. Iran has attacked Dubai's famous luxury hotel, the Burj Al Arab. According to reports, flames erupted after an attack drone struck the building. The Dubai Media Office said on X, "Officials have confirmed that a drone was intercepted. Its debris hit the exterior of the Burj Al Arab, causing a small fire."

    The world's first seven-star hotel

Fortunately, no injuries or deaths have been reported in the incident. The fire has been brought under control. The statement further said that civil defense teams responded quickly and contained the incident. No injuries were reported. The Burj Al-Arab, a sail-shaped building that has become a hallmark of Dubai, is also known as the world's first seven-star hotel. However, the hotel does not use this in its advertising.

    Dubai Airport Also Attacked

The Palm Hotel and the International Airport were also targeted. Dubai's media office wrote on X that a concourse at Dubai International suffered minor damage in an incident that was quickly brought under control. It reported that four people were injured in the incident. Dubai is the Middle East's largest tourism and trade hub. Its airport is one of the world's busiest travel hubs.

Iran Fires 137 Missiles and 209 Drones at UAE

The United Arab Emirates has said that Iran fired 137 missiles and 209 drones at its territory, most of which were intercepted by defense systems. Iran has fired missiles at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Qatar's capital, Doha. Due to the Iranian attacks, airlines across the Middle East suspended flights on Saturday, including flights to and from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Why is Iran attacking its neighbors?

Following the Israeli and US attacks on Saturday, Iran has unexpectedly launched large-scale attacks on its neighboring countries. Experts say that Iran is strategically attacking these neighbors. Countries like the UAE and Qatar are major US allies in the Middle East. Tehran believes that the attacks will pressure the governments of these countries, leading to a halt to attacks on Iran. However, sources say that the Gulf country has adopted a policy of not pressuring the US despite the Iranian attacks.
