Israel allows humanitarian aid in Gaza after 3-month blockade, relief for Palestinians

Gaza: Israel has announced to send humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip after an 11-week long blockade. This decision has been taken after the warning of global experts on food security in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the crisis of starvation could put Israel's new military operation in Gaza in danger. In such a situation, his cabinet has decided to allow limited basic help like food in this area with a population of about 23 lakhs. Amidst the fierce attacks, this decision of Israel will bring great relief to the people of Gaza and Hamas because the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has deepened due to the stoppage of aid.

Israel has said to allow aid to enter Gaza but when and how will the aid go. This is not yet clear. The Israeli military organization that oversees the aid going to Gaza has not commented on this. However, Netanyahu has said in his statement that Israel will ensure that the aid does not reach Hamas.

Aid has been stopped since March

Israel had blocked Gaza in early March and cut off food, medicine and other basic supplies reaching here. Israel called it a way to put pressure on Hamas to accept the ceasefire conditions. However, the ceasefire could not happen and Israel resumed the attacks. Israel has been continuously attacking Gaza since March. These attacks have become very fierce in recent days. The talks on ceasefire between the two sides in Qatar have also not shown any result.

The Gaza Health Ministry says that 3,000 people have died in Gaza in the last three months since the ceasefire ended. At least 103 people were killed in Israeli air strikes in Gaza this Saturday and Sunday alone. More than 48 people have died in the southern city of Khan Younis itself. These attacks took place on the homes and tents of displaced people. In such a situation, most of the dead are women and children.

The war in Gaza started on October 7, 2023. Southern Israel was attacked by Hamas on 7 October. 1,200 people were killed in this attack and 250 were kidnapped by Hamas. Only after this Israel started air strikes in Gaza. More than 53,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks so far.
