According to the tradition of Kumbh Mela, Sanyasi, Bairagi and Udasi Akharas reach the Sangam banks in a grand procession and take Amrit Snan in a fixed order in which Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani takes Amrit Snan first in the order. Triveni Sangam - the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati - is considered the most sacred by Hindus. It is believed that taking a dip in it during Maha Kumbh and especially on special bathing dates like Mauni Amavasya washes away people's sins and gives them salvation.
