Plan for the Udan Scheme: Will flights also depart from your city? Does the Aviation Ministry's plan include the name of your city as well? In her budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided answers to these queries. According to her, in addition to building new airports, new cities will also have air connectivity to propel the aviation sector to new heights.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her budget speech that in the last financial year, air connectivity was provided to 1.5 lakh passengers under 'Ude Desh Ka Aam Aadmi - Udan'. Also, in the last financial year, not only 88 airports have been constructed, but flight operations have also been started from them. The government has decided to take this scheme to new dimensions.
Flight operations will start on 120 new routes.
According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, around 1.5 crore air passengers have benefited directly from the airline operations currently conducted on roughly 619 UDAN itineraries. This year, there are plans to launch flights to 120 more locations. Approximately 4 crore additional passengers would have access to air connectivity with the launch of these new routes.
The government is preparing to build new airports here
According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the budget's UDAN project will build new airports in Purvanchal's hilly and isolated regions. In addition, several cities will have heliports built so that helicopters may provide air connectivity. Additionally, the Finance Minister has discussed the construction of new greenfield airports in Bihar. These airports will not be the same as the one being constructed in Patna's Bihta.
