No Water, No Electricity in Gwadar! Pakistan-China’s ‘Dubai Dream’ Fails Even After 10 Years

Islamabad: The Baloch Liberation Army has hijacked an entire Pakistani train Jaffar Express in Balochistan province of Pakistan. BLA has claimed that it has taken 157 people hostage, most of whom are Pakistani army personnel. Apart from this, there are many people from Punjab province who work in various projects there. The Balochs have stopped the train inside a tunnel in a hilly area. This train was going to Peshawar. There were about 600 passengers on it. BLA claims that it has killed 30 Pakistani soldiers. Pakistan's Balochistan province is full of natural resources. Gwadar Port is located here, which is strategically very important for the entire region. China is making it a naval base. Pakistan and China started the CPEC project to make it a city comparable to Dubai. China claims that it has spent more than $ 50 billion on CPEC, but even after 10 years, Gwadar has not yet been able to get clean water nor Pakistan's indigenous electricity.

10 years have passed since the start of CPEC and the latest review of the Pakistani government has revealed that Gwadar has not been able to develop due to the lack of clean water and indigenous electricity. Pakistan has admitted these shortcomings several times in its review but it has not been removed yet. Pakistan's Planning Minister got angry during the review of CPEC when Gwadar did not get indigenous electricity. Recently, a report revealed that Pakistan imports electricity for Gwadar Port from Iran. Not only this, an airport has also been built near this port by spending millions of dollars but it still remains a haunted place.

China is building a naval base in Gwadar

Similarly, clean water supply has not been done in Gwadar yet. Pakistan is facing a lot of criticism for Gwadar becoming a white elephant. At the same time, China intends to build an army base along with a naval base in this Pakistani city. With this, the Chinese army will be able to dominate the entire Persian Gulf adjacent to Iran. Till now the US army dominates this area. China and Pakistan are failing to do business from Gwadar Port even after spending billions of dollars. The biggest reason behind this is the Baloch rebels.

Pakistan and China are looting natural resources including gas of Balochistan but are not providing facilities here. Due to this, the local Baloch people are very angry. Thousands of youth have been arrested by the Pakistani army without warrant. Due to this, the youth here are rapidly joining BLA. The Baloch have killed many Chinese engineers in a deadly attack. BLA has warned China to leave Balochistan. In view of this threat, China wants to deploy its army here to protect its citizens and investments. The Pakistani government considers it a violation of its sovereignty. Gwadar Port was built in 2007 for $250 million and is run by a Chinese company.
