Islamabad: The Pakistan government has rejected India's criticism regarding its military operations inside Afghanistan. Pakistan stated that India's comments on this issue are "unnecessary and absurd." Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has once again accused India of promoting terrorism and disregarding international laws. The statement asserted that India itself has a poor track record on this very issue.
India has condemned the attacks carried out by Pakistan inside Afghanistan in recent days. Responding to questions regarding India's stance, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Tahir Hussain Andrabi, issued a response on Sunday. Tahir stated that India's statement is completely baseless. Pakistan has targeted terrorist groups—an action it has every right to undertake.
Pakistan Has Done Nothing Wrong
Tahir Andrabi remarked, "Pakistan's strikes against terrorists and their hideouts inside Afghanistan are legitimate, targeted, and precise. India provides support to terrorist organizations operating from Afghan soil. Consequently, India is frustrated by the dismantling of networks within Afghanistan that operate at its behest."
In this statement, the Pakistani spokesperson also once again referenced the Indus Waters Treaty and the Kashmir issue. Tahir stated, "India is utilizing water as a weapon, in violation of its obligations under the Indus Waters Treaty. Such actions by India jeopardize peace not only in Afghanistan but across the entire region."
What India Said About Pakistan
India has termed the airstrikes carried out by the Pakistani military inside Afghanistan on Sunday morning as "irresponsible." In a statement, India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, asserted that India strongly condemns Pakistan's airstrikes on Afghan territory during the holy month of Ramadan.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated significantly. Afghan government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has stated that Pakistan carried out bombings against civilians in the Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, killing dozens of people, including women and children. Afghanistan has termed this a violation of its sovereignty.
