US President Trump had said during a conversation with PM Modi that India should buy more American safety equipment. He also said that bilateral trade between the US and India should be done properly. That is, Trump wants America should not have a trade deficit.

India is one of the biggest exporters of America. According to a BBC report, India exported goods worth $77.5 billion to the US in 2023-24. The Indian side has already expressed its desire to buy more and more energy from the US. Along with this, India has reduced the customs duty on many goods coming from abroad, which can benefit American companies.
