Russia Backs Taliban, Digs Grave for Enemies—Will India Seize This Chance Against China-Pak?

New Delhi: Experts believe that India will not immediately adopt Russia's decision to formally recognize the Taliban 2.0 regime. But, this move of Russia can give India a chance to formulate its strategy in this region. In the last one year, relations between India and Kabul have seen improvement. India has increased talks with Taliban 2.0. The Taliban also condemned the Pahalgam attack. India's strategic partner Russia has officially recognized the Taliban regime this week. This can help India, as relations between Kabul and Islamabad have deteriorated a lot and Pakistan is ready to blame the Taliban for all its crimes.

Russia's move gave India a chance

According to an ET report, experts say that Russia's inclination towards the Taliban can be a new opportunity for India to put forward its point. Vinay Kaura, Assistant Professor at Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Rajasthan, says, 'Russia's relations with the Taliban can give India an opportunity to play its role. Moscow will want to avoid dependence on China in its new relationship with Kabul. This will give India a chance to work together with Russia in regional stability. This can restore the strategic balance that has been disturbed in recent years.'

    Afghan citizens started getting visas

However, India has also resumed visa services for Afghan citizens from May. These visas will currently be given mainly to sick people to come to India for treatment. This decision will be taken after looking at every kind of case. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also spoke to Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi over the phone. In this, he thanked Muttaqi for condemning the terrorist attack in Kashmir. This initiative of the Taliban is a clear indication that it wants to improve relations with India, because China and its stooge Pakistan have become a cause of trouble for it too.

Taliban wants to get rid of Pakistan

The Taliban regime also wants to use the International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and Chabahar port for global trade. This will reduce its dependence on Pakistan's ports. Afghanistan currently has to rely completely on Pakistan's Karachi port, which is now proving to be very difficult for it. INSTC is a trade route that connects India to Russia and Europe. Chabahar port is in Iran and is an important route for India to reach Afghanistan and Central Asia. The Taliban wants both these routes to be used for trade. This will not have to depend on Pakistan.

It is easy for Russia to work with India

Kaurra said, 'The Russian initiative can give India a chance to put forward its point.' This means that Russia's good relations with the Taliban can help India increase its role in Afghanistan. Russia does not want to depend too much on China. Therefore, it can work together with India. This will help in maintaining peace in the region. Because Russia also considers India as its most trusted strategic partner. At the same time, relations between India and the Taliban are also gradually improving. India has also sent humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. India is also considering restarting development projects in Afghanistan. It has already invested a lot there.
