Russia launches nearly 1,000 drones in major attack on Ukraine

Kyiv: Russia has executed one of its most massive attacks against Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian military, Russia has fired 1,000 drones over the past 24 hours. Of these, more than 550 drones were launched at various targets across the country. This constituted a rare and lethal attack carried out during the daytime. The Governor of the western Ukrainian region of Ivano-Frankivsk reported that at least two people were killed in the region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that at least 40 people were injured across the country in these attacks, including five children. Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, noted that this was one of the largest attacks to occur during daylight hours, with drones directed toward central and western Ukraine.

    22 Injured in Lviv

The Mayor of the city of Lviv reported that at least 22 people were injured in the attack. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that at least 541 drones were shot down or neutralized. Ukrainian officials reported that Russia also targeted residential buildings and urban centers during the drone attacks. Hospitals and churches also fell victim to the Russian assault.

The military administration of the Lviv region reported that a church building located within the Bernardine Monastery complex—a site designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO—was struck during the attack. The attack also sparked fires in buildings adjacent to the church. Additionally, a maternity hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk sustained damage in the assault. Russia Using Iranian Drones

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has accused Russia of using Iranian drones. Zelenskyy stated that Iranian Shahed drones—modernized by Russia—are attacking a church in Lviv. This is a complete display of a twisted mentality, and only a person like Putin could take pleasure in it. He further added that the scale of the attacks clearly demonstrates that Russia has no intention of ending the war.
