Kyiv: Ukrainian President Zelensky has revealed that more than 45,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed so far in the ongoing war with Russia. The war is about to complete three years and the death toll is constantly increasing. Ukraine's remarks came when British Foreign Minister David Lammy arrived in Ukraine to announce a new support package to help Ukraine. On Tuesday night, the Ukrainian President said in an interview that 45,100 soldiers had been killed and 390,000 soldiers were injured in the war. Apart from this, Zelensky has said that he is ready to talk directly with Putin to end the war.
He said, 'If this is the only way we can bring peace to the citizens of Ukraine and avoid losing more people, then we are ready for it.' Zelensky estimates that 3.5 lakh Russian soldiers have been killed. At the same time, 6-7 lakh were injured. Apart from this, talking about other updates related to the war, five Ukrainians were killed in a Russian attack in the Izyum town of the northeastern Kharkiv region, including a pregnant teenager. 55 people have been injured in the attack.
What happened in the war?
- Two civilians died in Russian shelling on Tuesday. These deaths have been seen in southern Ukraine.
- Ukraine carried out a drone attack in Russia's Krasnodar region, which set fire to an oil depot.
- Ukraine has said that there has been a steady increase in the cases of inquiries from Russian families for information about missing soldiers. This shows that Russia has suffered heavy losses in the battlefield. The hotline was launched in January 2024, after which more than 60 thousand requests have been received.
- An international investigation has revealed that European and American ship owners have sold 230 of their old tankers to Russia. These are part of Russia's shadow fleet, through which oil was sent to India, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Seychelles. The owners benefited by $ 6 billion by selling the ships. It was led by the Dutch investigation portal 'Follow the Money' (FTM). Greek owners sold 127 ships, which was the highest. UK companies sold 22 and Germany sold 11 and Norwegian owners sold 8 ships. These tankers would have been sold as scrap. But it was sold to Russia at a high price.
- The family of an American citizen, who died in the 2014 downing of the MH17 flight in Ukraine, has been allowed to sue Russia's largest bank Sberbank. The bank is accused of transferring money to a Russian-backed separatist group believed to be responsible for the downing of the airline. 18-year-old Quinn Shansman was one of the 298 people killed.
