Sadhguru Named Global Indian of the Year 2025 for Conscious Planet Movement

New Delhi: Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru was honored with the 'Global Indian of the Year 2025' award by the Canada India Foundation (CIF). This award was given to him for his contribution to raising human consciousness and environmental protection through the 'Conscious Planet Movement'.

The award ceremony was held in Toronto on 22 May 2025. CIF President Ritesh Malik and National Convenor Sunita Vyas gave this award. Along with this, Sadhguru was also given a prize of 50,000 Canadian dollars, which he dedicated to the 'Kaveri Calling' campaign. This initiative is to revive the Cauvery river and improve the lives of 84 million people by helping farmers plant 2.42 billion trees.

Ritesh Malik said that Sadhguru gives practical solutions to global problems like soil degradation, climate change and food quality. His teachings focus on yoga, meditation and mental health, which matches Canada's health priorities.

CIF wrote on the social media platform X, 'Sadhguru's message is profound: a conscious and compassionate humanity is the way forward.' At the same time, Sadhguru praised the contribution of the Indian community to the development of Canada and India and said, 'I appreciate your love and hospitality very much. Lots of love and blessings.'

    Why is this award given?

The Canada India Foundation is a policy organization that works to strengthen Canada-India relations. The Global Indian Award is given to people of Indian origin who show excellence in the service of humanity. Conscious Planet is a global movement started by Sadhguru. Its aim is to make individual and collective consciousness environmentally friendly. Under this, programs like Soil Movement, Rally for Rivers - Cauvery Calling, Isha Vidya, Rural Regeneration and Soil Farmers Movement are run, which solve environmental, education and social problems.
