New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal from Delhi has raised a serious issue. MP Swati Maliwal shared this information in a video on her social media platform X. Sharing the video, the Rajya Sabha MP wrote that in 2024, a large pharmaceutical company took 30 doctors on a trip to Paris, spending ₹2 crore.
Pharmaceutical companies bribe doctors
She further stated in her X post that these companies try to lure doctors and hospitals with various incentives and, in return, ask them to prescribe their medicines and injections to patients. The MP further wrote that this is completely wrong and illegal. She raised this important issue in Parliament. The former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women said in the video that a pharmaceutical company spent approximately ₹2 crore to take 30 doctors from India to Paris.
Question asked to the government
She further said in the video that this is not the first time this has happened. Many times, pharmaceutical companies give incentives to doctors, saying that if you prescribe this particular injection to patients, you will get this much money for each injection, and if the volume is high, your foreign trip is guaranteed. Concluding her statement, the Rajya Sabha member said, "I want to know from the government what action has been taken against this pharmaceutical company that took our doctors to France? Is the government bringing any strict law to control this problem?"
