Trump Strikes Rare Mineral Deal With Ukraine, Zelensky Bows to U.S. Pressure

Washington: US President Donald Trump finally succeeded in bending Ukrainian President Zelensky. Ukraine has agreed to give its rare minerals to America. A major 'economic partnership agreement' has been signed between the US and Ukraine. After this deal, America will now get access to Ukraine's rare minerals. The US will create an investment fund in Ukraine under this deal. This agreement between the two countries was reached after weeks of fierce negotiations, in which the matter has been saved from getting worse many times.

Since US President Donald Trump came to power again, both the countries were working vigorously on this agreement. On Wednesday, the US Finance Ministry announced that Ukraine's Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko signed this deal in Washington. He posted on X on Wednesday, 'The terms of the agreement include 'full ownership and control' remaining with Ukraine.' US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said in a statement, 'As the President said, the US is committed to ending this brutal and futile war. This agreement clearly signals to Russia that the Trump administration is committed to a process focused on an independent, sovereign and prosperous Ukraine for the long term.'

There is treasure in Ukraine's land!

Ukraine has deposits of 22 such rare minerals, which are included in the 50 critical materials of the US Geological Survey. These minerals are essential for electronics, clean energy technology and weapons systems. China has captured the global production of these rare minerals, due to which Western countries are looking for alternative sources like Ukraine. In 2021, Ukraine also made a similar deal with the European Union, and now the US has entered the race.

'This agreement clearly tells Russia that the Trump administration is committed to the independence and prosperity of Ukraine.' - US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant.

There were obstacles in the negotiations

There were many obstacles in finalizing this deal. This deal was to be signed during the visit of Ukrainian President Zelensky to the US in February, but his visit was cancelled midway after a heated debate with Trump at the White House. Ukraine wanted the US to give security guarantees in this deal, but Trump put a condition of signing the agreement first. Ukraine believes that the presence of American investment and companies will increase America's interest in its security.
