After Pahalgam Attack, India Deports 520 Illegal Foreigners Including 470 Bangladeshis from Delhi

New Delhi: After the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April, Delhi Police took a big action and launched a campaign to catch people living illegally in Delhi. In this campaign, from 22 April 2025 till now, 470 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants and 50 such foreigners were caught who were living in India even after the visa period expired. All of them were sent to Agartala by plane and then sent back to Bangladesh. That is, after the Pahalgam attack, a total of 520 illegal Bangladeshis were sent back to their country.


A total of 770 illegal migrants were sent to Bangladesh in the last 6 months


According to the Indian Express report, a Delhi Police official said that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had last year directed them to identify and detain illegal Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingyas. According to data from the Union Home Ministry, between November 15, 2024 and April 20, 2025, the Delhi Police caught about 220 illegal migrants and 30 foreigners overstaying their visas. But after the Pahalgam attack, a rapid crackdown was carried out and 770 illegal migrants were sent to Bangladesh in the last 6 months.


The police handed over all of them to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). They were then transported by rail and road to the eastern states and from there sent across the border to Bangladesh.


Delhi Police officer's statement came outA police officer said that the Union Home Ministry had directed them to conduct a verification campaign last year to identify and detain illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas. This action has been taken by Delhi Police on the orders of MHA. Police say that they will continue to search for people who are living illegally in India.
