New Delhi: Voting is underway in Mumbai on Thursday for the BMC and 29 other municipal corporations in Maharashtra. Long queues of voters were seen at polling booths since 7:30 AM. Along with common people, many well-known personalities from the film industry also arrived to cast their votes.
In this regard, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also exercised his right to vote. He was seen in a very simple and cool style, wearing a blue shirt and trousers. Like a responsible citizen, Akshay conveyed the message of the importance of democracy by casting his vote.
After casting his vote, Akshay Kumar spoke to the media and said that the BMC elections are directly connected to our daily lives. He said, "Today is a very important day because today the remote control is in our hands. We decide who will run our city."
Akshay Kumar made a special appeal to Mumbaikars, urging everyone to come out of their homes and vote. Referring to the problems faced by the common people, he said, "We often say that there is no water, there are electricity problems, garbage is lying on the streets, and the roads are bad. But now is not the time to complain, but to take responsibility."
He further added, "If we want good governance, then we have to choose the right people by voting. To become a true hero of Mumbai, it's not enough to just deliver dialogues; you have to come out and vote." In the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) elections, a total of 15,908 candidates are contesting for 2,869 seats. Across the state, more than 34.87 million voters are exercising their right to vote. To ensure a peaceful and orderly election, 39,092 polling stations have been set up. Akshay Kumar has already cast his vote.
The BMC is considered one of the largest municipal corporations in the country. Therefore, its elections directly impact the development and amenities of Mumbai. This is why Akshay has appealed to people to raise awareness and encourage participation.
