Akshay Kumar records 20 ₹100 crore films, leads Indian box office tally

Do you know who that actor in Indian cinema is—the one who has not just one, but 20 films included in the ₹100-crore club? This actor's last hit was released in 2021; since then, every subsequent film has been either a flop or a disaster. Prior to that, his last successful film was released in 2019. Can you guess who it is? The concept of the ₹100-crore club in Bollywood originated in 2008 with Aamir Khan's film, *Ghajini*. It was the first Indian film to gross ₹100 crore at the domestic box office. Since then, approximately 150 Indian films have achieved this milestone—some being big-budget blockbusters, and many others, smaller productions. Many actors have multiple films listed in this ₹100-crore club, serving as a testament to their consistent success. From Salman Khan to Shah Rukh, Aamir, and various others—many actors have films that have gained entry into the ₹100-crore club; however, there is one specific actor who boasts a staggering 20 films in this exclusive club. And that actor is Akshay Kumar.

Most recently, *Bhoot Bangla* has also joined this illustrious list. *Bhoot Bangla*—featuring the hit collaboration between Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar—has crossed the ₹100-crore mark across the country. Consequently, Akshay Kumar now has 20 films to his credit that have earned ₹100 crore or more at the domestic box office. In other words, she has successfully entered the ₹100-crore club. Meanwhile, Salman Khan holds the second spot, with 18 films included in this list.

    **Akshay's 6 Post-COVID Films Also Join the ₹100-Crore Club**

Interestingly, out of these 20 films by Akshay, six were released in the post-COVID era. Admittedly, Akshay's last few films have been consecutive flops; however, there is no denying that—despite lower footfall in theaters—Akshay continues to produce films that are commercially successful. In 2025, Akshay delivered films such as *Kesari 2*, *Housefull 5*, *Jolly LLB 3*, and now *Bhoot Bangla*—all of which entered the ₹100-crore club and proved to be successful. These films served to put Akshay's career back on track in the post-COVID period—particularly after he had previously delivered a string of flops, including titles like *Bachchhan Paandey*, *Selfiee*, *Samrat Prithviraj*, *Sarfira*, *Bade Miyan Chote Miyan*, and *Mission Raniganj*.

**How Akshay Kumar Outpaced Other Stars**

Now, the question arises: how did Akshay manage to outpace stars like Aamir, Salman, and Shah Rukh in terms of the ₹100-crore club—especially given that several of his recent films have been consecutive failures? The answer lies in the actor's strategy of doing three to four films within a single year. Akshay adopted this approach many years ago. He used to—and continues to—do four, five, or sometimes even six films a year. This strategy significantly increased his probability of achieving box office success. In contrast, stars like Shah Rukh, Salman, and Ajay Devgn typically did only one or two films a year—a figure that has now dropped even further. As for Aamir, he would do only the occasional film; currently, the situation is such that he releases just one film every three or four years. Indian Actors Who Have Delivered the Most '₹100 Crore Club' Films:

    Akshay Kumar – 10

    Salman Khan – 18

    Ajay Devgn – 16

    Shah Rukh Khan – 10

    Ranveer Singh – 9

    Hrithik Roshan – 8

    Rajinikanth – 8
