Bangladesh Army Chief Cancels US Visit, Pak Envoy Flees Dhaka Amid Rising Tensions

Dhaka: Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar Uz-Zaman was scheduled to visit the US on 11 May, but his visit was cancelled at the last moment. It is said that the head of the interim government had refused to let the Army Chief go on a US visit. The report shows that this is the second time in one and a half months that Mohammad Yunus has tried to obstruct the work of Army Chief General Zaman. Northeast News has given this information quoting sources in the interim government. Along with this, an important incident related to Pakistan has taken place inside Bangladesh.

    Sudden return of Pakistani ambassador

In a sudden development, Pakistan's ambassador to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maruf has returned to Islamabad on leave on May 11. North East News has confirmed Maruf's return to Pakistan in its report. Sources have said that Maruf had to leave the country due to his relationship with a 23-year-old employee of Bangladesh Bank.

Maruf fled in a t-shirt and jeans

The Pakistani ambassador was in the coastal city of Cox's Bazar to meet representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami and Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army when he had to return to Pakistan. It is said that Maruf was not even given a chance to change his clothes and he left for Pakistan in a t-shirt and jeans.

    Yunus against Army Chief

Northeast News has given a big information about the Bangladesh Army Chief and told that Yunus government is working against the Army Chief, but his plan is not succeeding because General Zaman has a lot of influence and support among senior officers and at least six General Officer Commanding (GOC).

General Zaman was to attend the Land Forces Pacific Symposium and Exhibition-25 in the US. This four-day conference was to start on May 11 in Honolulu, Hawaii. General Zaman was going to go to America by Turkish Airlines flight, but Yunus verbally asked him not to go on the US tour.
