Bhool Chuk Maaf Shines on Day 1, Kesari Veer Falls Flat, Kapkapiii Disappoints

Rajkummar Rao and Vamika Gabbi starrer 'Bhool Chuk Maaf', released on Friday, May 23, has really done wonders on the opening day. This is because the film did not get very good reviews. While the film was also ruined due to the controversy caused by the theater and OTT release. It seemed that its earnings would be messed up on the first day. This also happened in the morning shows. But as the day progressed, it has won hearts by defying the negative word-of-mouth and earning much better than expected. The other two new releases 'Kesari Veer' and 'Kampi' have flopped on the very first day, but a funny thing has happened here too. Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade's horror-comedy has surprisingly outperformed 'Kesari Veer'.

'Bhool Chuk Maaf', directed by Karan Sharma, has a budget of Rs 50 crore. It is made under the banner of Maddock Films. Seeing the disappointing advance booking and very few viewers in the morning shows, it was expected that this film would earn less than Rs 5 crore on the opening day. But interestingly, it has become one of the top-5 highest earning films of Rajkumar Rao on the first day. It has surpassed 'Kai Po Che' (4.25 crores), 'Judgemental Hai Kya' (4.50 crores) and 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' (5.50 crores) on the opening day.

'Bhool Chook Maaf' Box Office Collection

According to Sacnilk, 'Bhool Chook Maaf' has collected a net of Rs 6.75 crores in the country on the opening day. On Friday, the film's shows had an average occupancy of 19.36% seats. It is worth noting that in the morning shows, an average of 9.40 out of 100 seats were occupied, which increased to 18.26% in the afternoon shows, 18.52% in the evening shows and 31.27% in the night shows.

Rajkumar Rao's top-5 films (opening day):

    • Stree 2 - Rs 51.80 crore
    • Mr. and Mrs. Mahi - Rs 6.75 crore
    • Stree - Rs 6.82 crore
    • Bhool Chook Maaf - Rs 6.75 crore
    • Vicky Vidya's that video - Rs 5.50 crore

...then 'Bhool Chook Maaf' will become the third HIT of the year

'Bhool Chook Maaf' has directly raised hopes that it will earn a lot over the weekend. The film has defeated negative reviews and word-of-mouth. While 'Red 2', which is already in theaters, is now in its fourth week and is getting tired, Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' has also started losing momentum. Apart from this, two more new releases 'Kesari Veer' and 'Kampi' have flopped badly on the very first day. Overall, the market is completely open for 'Bhool Chook Maaf'. If it picks up pace in the weekend, it will not be a surprise if it becomes the third HIT film of the year 2025.

    Kesari Veer Box Office Collection

On the other hand, 'Kesari Veer', directed by Prince Dhiman, has already fared badly. This story of warriors who sacrificed their lives to protect the Somnath temple has disappointed the audience. This film of Sunil Shetty, Sooraj Pancholi and Vivek Oberoi created a lot of noise before its release, but it has managed to earn only Rs 25 lakh on the opening day. Whereas its budget is Rs 60 crore.

Kapkapiii Box Office Collection Day 1

By the way, Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade's horror-comedy has also proved to be weak. But the interesting thing is that it has done more business than 'Kesari Veer'. Whereas there was almost zero discussion about this film before its release. 'Kampi', directed by Sangeet Sivan, has collected a net of Rs 26 lakh on the opening day. The budget of this film is around Rs 25 crore.
