Sanaa: Yemen's Houthi rebels, facing US air strikes, have said that they are fully prepared to deal with the enemy. The Houthis have said that they are closely monitoring the changes taking place on the ground and are preparing for every kind of situation. The Houthis are also eyeing Saudi Arabia and UAE, America's allies in West Asia. The Houthis fear that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) may intervene in Yemen. In such a situation, the Houthis have also warned these two countries.
According to the Newsweek report, Saudi and UAE launched a campaign against the Houthis a decade ago. This happened when the Houthis evicted the internationally recognized Yemeni government from the capital. Both countries had launched a campaign against the Houthis to support the government. The situation has changed again after the war started in Gaza. The Houthis have attacked Israeli and American ships in the Red Sea. In response, the US has carried out heavy bombing in Yemen. Saudi and UAE have so far kept distance from this development, but the Houthis fear military action by these two countries on Yemen. In such a situation, the Houthis have warned that if Saudi and UAE do this, they will have to face serious consequences.
Houthis control a large part of Yemen
The Houthis currently control one-third of Yemen and 80 percent of the population. The Supreme Political Council of the Houthis is in the capital Sanaa. On the other hand, there is the government, which works from the city of Aden in the south. The Yemeni government is represented by the Presidential Leadership Council. It includes many parties, including the UAE-backed separatist Southern Transitional Council.
A US defense official told Newsweek that he has nothing to provide on this subject. The US has said that the Houthis have suffered heavy losses. At the same time, the Houthis have rejected the reports of their leaders being killed or heavy damage to their capabilities. A source associated with the Houthis said that the US attacks have not caused such damage that our activities are affected.
A Houthi source told Newsweek that we are fighting this war on the orders of Allah. We consider this war a sacred task to protect the human values being crushed in Gaza. We do not accept being silent on what is happening in Gaza, no matter what the cost. Stopping the war in Gaza is the best solution to stop this fight.
