Dhaka: A bombing has taken place in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, ahead of the return of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. On Wednesday evening, miscreants threw crude bombs in Dhaka's Moghbazar area. A young man named Siam was killed in the crude bomb blast. The incident occurred near the Wireless Gate area, in front of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command. This has caused panic throughout Dhaka. The incident comes amidst a high alert in Dhaka regarding Tarique Rahman's return, with police, army, and paramilitary forces deployed.

Bomb thrown from flyover

According to a Dhaka Tribune report, eyewitnesses said the bomb was thrown from the flyover and exploded upon impact, seriously injuring Siam, who later died on the spot. Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam told the media that initial investigations suggest the bomb was thrown from the flyover. The motive is not yet clear. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify those involved, and more information will be released after the investigation.
