Even After Gaza Destruction, Israel Admits: ‘It Will Take Years to Eliminate Hamas’

Tel Aviv: Israel is now admitting its failure of turning Gaza into a pile of rubble. Israeli sources have admitted that it will take many years to eradicate Hamas from the Gaza Strip. Citing Israeli army sources, the Jerusalem Post has reported that "it may take a full year or several more years to completely uproot the terrorist group." After carrying out a dangerous operation in Gaza recently, the Israeli army has claimed that it has killed 300 more Hamas terrorists. Before announcing the ceasefire on January 19, the Israeli army had claimed that around 18,000 to 20,000 Hamas terrorists have been killed so far in its operation in the Gaza Strip. But even after killing so many terrorists, Israel says that it will take many more years to finish off Hamas.

Israel believes that Hamas may have around 25,000 or even more terrorists. The Israeli army has said that its effort right now is to kill as many terrorists as possible and it is working very hard for this task. Israeli army sources say that there were 4,000 to 8,000 Hamas fighters originally from Russia in Rafah of the Gaza Strip, out of which only a few hundred are left now. IDF officials believe that if the top Hamas leaders do not surrender or are not ready to leave Gaza, Israel may have to remain trapped in a very long siege in Gaza. This conflict will mainly focus on the campaign to find and eliminate small terrorist groups.

Will the Israeli operation in Gaza continue for many more years?

So questions are being raised whether the fighting in the Gaza Strip is going to continue for many more years. However, some Israeli officials hope that Hamas will soon disintegrate and its top leaders will be ready to leave the Gaza Strip. But if this does not happen and Israel and Hamas are not ready to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement, then a slow-motion war may start in Gaza and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip may be hindered. Israeli officials have said that Hamas terrorists are hidden among the civilians, due to which it becomes very difficult to identify and eliminate them.

Apart from this, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) has carried out very dangerous operations in the Shaboura area of Rafah in the past few days, whereas earlier it was believed that this area has already been controlled. This indicates that it may be very difficult to eliminate the presence and influence of Hamas in Gaza. Although the Israeli army has said that the operation will continue until Hamas is completely eliminated, but this process will definitely be long and difficult.
