Tel Aviv: Palestinian group Hamas has said that it wants an agreement with Israel to end the war in Gaza. Hamas, which has been controlling Gaza for nearly two decades, has said that it is ready to release all the Israeli hostages at once. Hamas has demanded a five-year ceasefire in Gaza in exchange for the release of all Israeli hostages. This proposal from Hamas has come at a time when Israel is carrying out fierce air strikes in Gaza. Palestinians are suffering heavy loss of life and property in these attacks.
Israeli website Jerusalem Post has given this information related to Gaza ceasefire in its report based on the conversation of Hamas official with AFP. According to the report, a Hamas delegation has left for Cairo for a meeting with Egyptian officials. The Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya will present its views on Gaza ceasefire in front of Egyptian officials.
Pressure is increasing on Hamas to stop the fighting
Hamas sources told N12 that Hamas commanders in the Gaza Strip are under heavy pressure from the local people. Common people are pressuring Hamas to stop the fighting. Pressure is also increasing on Hamas to give up weapons. As long as Hamas remains an armed group, it will be difficult for it to get any serious assistance for the reconstruction of the area. Arab countries will also not send battalions for policing mission in Gaza Strip.
Whether any decision related to stopping the war in Gaza is reached in Egypt or not, it will be known in the coming days. There are still an estimated 59 hostages in Hamas custody in Gaza. Negotiators are constantly trying to reach an agreement under which the hostages will be brought back and the war in Gaza will be stopped.
Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1200 people and kidnapping about 250 people. After this, Israel started attacks in Gaza. The Gaza Strip has almost turned into ruins due to Israeli air strikes and more than 50 thousand people have lost their lives so far. Despite the efforts of many countries of the world, the war in Gaza has not stopped.
