Damascus: Deaths are occurring continuously in the violence that started last week in Syria. More than 1500 people have died in four days of fierce violence. People of the Alawite community are being targeted in this. This violence started when supporters of former President Bashar al-Assad attacked the interim government on Thursday. After this, HTS security forces of the interim President Ahmed al-Shara (Abu Mohammad al Julani) government are attacking Alawites. Alawites are considered to be supporters of Assad. Former President Assad also comes from this community.
According to The Sun report, many pictures and videos of Syria have surfaced on social media. These show the horrific situation of violence in Syria. It is being claimed on social media that security forces are torturing civilians. Soldiers are pulling civilians out of their homes, beating them and shooting them. Pictures of Assad supporters roaming the streets waving guns are also being shared.
Nude parade of women!
According to eyewitnesses, many Alawite women have been allegedly paraded naked on the streets and shot by the security forces. A teenage boy was given a rifle and forced to shoot his own family. The center of this bloody conflict is the western coastal city of Latakia. Electricity and water supply have also been cut off in major areas of this city.
Assad's supporters are from the Alawite sect, a branch of Shia Islam. On the other hand, the current interim government is of Sunni ideology. HTS, led by Ahmed al-Shara, removed Assad from power in December last year. Shara has become the President after Assad's ouster. After the formation of the new government, Assad supporters are on the margins, while HTS people are aggressive.
Government claims - things are getting better
Syria's Defense Ministry spokesman Hassan Abdul Ghani said that the bloody conflict is over. We are paving the way to normalize life and strengthen security and stability. He said that plans are being made to deal with Assad's remaining loyal fighters. Assad has fled to Moscow but some of his supporters are still in Syria. These people are creating problems for the government.
