Iran has temporarily closed its airspace around the capital Tehran amid rising tensions with the US and ongoing protests. This has affected flights of Indian airlines. Air India and IndiGo have issued travel advisories regarding possible delays due to the need to take alternative routes. The closure has been implemented via a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) until further notice.

A large US Navy fleet is now moving from the South China Sea towards the Middle East. This has increased security concerns throughout the region. The US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying carrier strike group have been deployed to the Middle East. This move is being seen in the context of the current situation. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has said that the situation is being constantly monitored.

Amidst the current situation in Iran, concerns are growing regarding Indian citizens residing there. According to reports, there are currently around 10,000 to 12,000 people of Indian origin in Iran, a large number of whom are students. Specifically, two to three thousand Kashmiri students are studying medicine in Iran. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has expressed serious concern about the safety of these students. The organization says that repeated internet shutdowns and violent protests in several areas have made it extremely difficult to contact the students. This situation is causing increasing anxiety among their families in India. The JKSA has appealed to the Indian government and concerned authorities to ensure the safety of the students stranded in Iran and to continuously monitor the situation so that timely assistance can be provided in case of any emergency.
