Jaish commander Rauf Asghar killed in Indian missile strike in Bahawalpur

Islamabad: Chief commander of terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed Rauf Asghar has been killed in a missile attack by Indian forces in Bahawalpur inside Pakistan. This information has come to light quoting top intelligence and Indian Army sources. Rauf Asghar was the brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Maulana Masood Azhar. He was among the 10 people of Azhar's family who were killed in the attack targeting the group's headquarters in Bahawalpur. A total of 14 people, including 4 other people close to Azhar, were killed in this attack.

Rauf was the one who plotted the hijacking of the Indian plane, which is known as Kandahar hijack. In December 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC-814 was hijacked by terrorists. It was taken to Kandahar. In exchange for the civilians on board the flight, the Indian government had to release 5 dreaded terrorists. Masood Azhar was also included in this.

Pakistani army officers attended the funeral

Apart from the Indian plane hijack, Rauf Asghar was also responsible for the Pathankot terror attack and the attack on the Indian Parliament. Rauf Asghar was buried in Bahawalpur on Wednesday. Senior officers of the Pakistani army and intelligence agency ISI were present at his funeral.

Rauf Asghar was among the most wanted terrorists of the country due to the bloody game played in India. He took over as the operational chief of Jaish-e-Mohammed in 2007 and plotted a brutal operation against India. According to the report, Asghar had conspired to hijack Indian Airlines at the age of 24.

    India's Operation Sindoor

On Wednesday night, Indian forces carried out a major military action in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the name of Operation Sindoor. India targeted 9 terrorist bases of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba with missiles. This also included the Bahawalpur headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed. A total of 14 people, including Jaish chief Masood Azhar's brother Rauf Asghar and 10 members of his family, were killed in the attack on this place located 100 km from the Indian border.
