New Delhi: After the 90-day ban on tariffs by US President Donald Trump, the economic instability in the world seems to be calm for the time being. Meanwhile, India is negotiating a trade deal with the US. The government says that it will not compromise the country's interests due to the pressure of deadlines for the free trade agreement. Meanwhile, key members of Trump's team, US Vice President JD Vance and Michael Waltz are coming to India.
Tariff stance changes dimension of visit
Though the visit of Vance and his Indian-origin wife Usha was planned a few weeks ago, their expected arrival on April 21 has taken on a different dimension in view of Trump's tariff aggression. India hopes that Vance will iron out the wrinkles that are holding up progress in the talks.
India is in constant touch with the US on the proposed deal and the government will protect the interests of the country and the people as any hasty move is never advisable. India is well placed to build bilateral partnerships with countries that value reciprocity, trust and fairness. All the country's trade negotiations are progressing well with the spirit of 'India First' and ensuring the path to 'Developed India 2047'.
