Jerusalem: The countdown for the extremist group Hamas, which rules Gaza, has begun. Protests against Hamas are increasing in Gaza. Protests against the extremist group were held for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, in which thousands of Palestinians expressed anger against Hamas. During this, a call was made to stop the war with Israel and the extremist group was demanded to leave power. In Shajaiya, which is said to be the stronghold of the extremist group, a protester shouted the slogan - 'For Allah's sake, Hamas go out.'
The protests against Hamas began on Tuesday in the northern city of Beit Lahiya in Gaza, which on Wednesday spread to several new areas including the Shejaiya and Sabra areas, the Nusrat refugee camp and Deir al-Balah. The protesters were holding posters in their hands, which read - The blood of our children is not cheap. Along with this, slogans were raised against Hamas demanding an end to the war.
Videos going viral on social media
Videos circulating on social media show hundreds of people protesting against the war in the heavily damaged northern city of Beit Lahiya. The video shows people carrying placards that read, 'Stop the war', 'We don't want to die' and 'The blood of our children is not cheap'. Some people could be heard chanting, 'Hamas get out!' In other videos, Hamas supporters are seen dispersing the crowd.
Gaza people fed up with displacement
Ammar Hassan, a young man from Beit Lahiya who participated in the protest, said, "We are fed up with bombing, killing and displacement." He said that at the beginning of the protest only a few people took to the streets against the war, but later more than 2,000 people joined it and people started shouting slogans against Hamas. Rights groups say that both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas violently suppress dissent, crushing protests in areas under their control and imprisoning and torturing critics.
