America has sent a message to North Korea in a similar manner. A few days ago, Kim Jong Un tested cruise missiles. In response, America has sent a whole fleet of its warships to South Korea.
On Sunday, America's aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson reached Busan Port in South Korea. This step has been taken to show the strength of the US-South Korea alliance. The South Korean Navy said,
"This deployment is a response to North Korea's threats and shows the strength of our military cooperation."
How will Kim Jong respond?
North Korea tested cruise missiles on 23 February. Kim Jong Un also reiterated his "preparation for nuclear power." The deployment of the US ship has also increased the possibility of North Korea's response.
Earlier, when the USS Theodore Roosevelt came to the Korean region, Pyongyang protested by firing missiles.
Donald Trump’s Stance on North Korea
Donald Trump has taken over the presidency again in January. He then called Kim Jong Un a "smart guy" and hinted at talks. But now his government has taken a tough stand against North Korea.
Trump had earlier demanded more money from South Korea in exchange for the safety of American soldiers. Trump said in October 2024,
"South Korea is a money machine. Now they have to pay $10 billion every year."
South Korea is also in tension
About 28,500 US soldiers are deployed in South Korea. Seoul's security depends on America's "nuclear umbrella." But questions are being raised about Trump's foreign policy.
Dan Pinkston, an international relations expert in Seoul, said,
"South Korea is currently adopting a strategy of keeping calm. They want Trump to focus on Canada, Mexico, and China, so that Korea does not face much trouble."
