    Myanmar Earthquake Kills 1,644: Fresh Tremors Today, India Sends Relief Teams

    A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has claimed 1,644 lives. Fresh tremors hit today, and India has sent aid and rescue teams. Read the latest updates.

    Myanmar Earthquake Kills 1,644: Fresh Tremors Today, India Sends Relief Teams

    Naypyidaw: The death toll from the earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday has risen to 1644. The ruling junta army in Myanmar confirmed 1,644 deaths on state television on Saturday evening. The government had reported 1002 deaths in the afternoon, a few hours after that the death toll was reported to be 1,644. This shows the level of devastation caused by the earthquake in Myanmar. Relief work is still going on in many areas in Myanmar and Thailand. In such a situation, the death toll is expected to increase. Important things after Myanmar earthquake-


    • 1- Myanmar's military government has said that 1644 people have died due to the earthquake and the number of injured has increased to 3,408. At the same time, the number of missing people has increased to 139. The magnitude of the earthquake in Myanmar was 7.7. After this, an aftershock of 6.7 magnitude came.


    • 2- An earthquake has struck Myanmar once again at around 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. The magnitude of this earthquake was measured at 5.1 on the Richter scale. Three earthquakes have occurred in Myanmar within two days. Their intensity on the Richter scale has been more than 7, 6 and 5.


    • 3- Mandalay city of Myanmar has been badly affected by the earthquake. The population of this city is 17 lakh. Many buildings in this city have turned into ruins. A large number of people in the city are affected by the earthquake and there is also a shortage of rescue workers.


    • 4- More than 694 people have died in Mandalay, the city closest to the epicenter of the earthquake. At the same time, 94 people have died in the capital Naypyidaw so far. These two cities of Myanmar are the worst affected by the earthquake.


    • 5- Life in Myanmar is derailed after the earthquake. A large number of people are waiting for relief. Traffic is badly affected due to cracks on the roads. There is a long queue of buses and trucks near the capital.


    • 6- Min Aung Hlaing, the head of the junta government of Myanmar, has appealed for international help. This is not a normal step for Myanmar as previous governments have avoided taking foreign aid even after natural disasters.


    • 7- Hands have been raised to help Myanmar from all over the world. The US, Russia, Malaysia and Singapore have announced to send relief materials and personnel to Myanmar. South Korea has given humanitarian aid of $ 2 million to Myanmar.


    • 8- India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has said that the 118-member Indian Army Field Hospital Unit has reached Myanmar. This team will help in providing first aid and emergency medical services in Mandalay city.


    • 9- 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been sent to Myanmar from Indian Navy ships INS Satpura and INS Savitri. On behalf of India, a team of 80 members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also left for Myanmar on Saturday.


    • 10- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Min Aung Hlaing, the head of the military-led government in Myanmar, on Saturday. He said that as a neighbor, India stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this difficult time.


    • 11- Aid agencies have warned that Myanmar is not at all prepared to deal with such a disaster. 35 people have already been displaced due to the civil war in the country. In such a situation, the earthquake has made things very bad.


    • 12- Earthquake tremors have also been felt in Bangkok, the capital of Myanmar's neighboring country Thailand. At least 9 people have died due to the earthquake in Thailand. 100 workers are reported missing after a building collapse in Bangkok.
