Netanyahu praises India-Israel ties, says PM Modi to visit next week

Jerusalem: Just before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lavished praise on India. Netanyahu described a strong alliance between Israel and India. He emphasized India's population of 1.5 billion, saying that Israel is very popular in India. Addressing the conference of major American Jewish organizations in Jerusalem, Netanyahu mentioned the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Israel next week and hinted at high-level talks. He also lavished praise on India.

Netanyahu said, "You know who's coming here next week—Narendra Modi." There is a strong alliance between Israel and India, and we are going to discuss all kinds of cooperation.' Netanyahu further said, 'India is not a small country. 1.5 billion people live there. Israel is very, very popular there. Did you know?'

    PM Modi's Israel Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Israel this month. This visit could add a new dimension to the strategic, defense, and technological relations between the two countries. The date of this visit has not been announced yet, but PM Modi may visit Israel after the AI Summit in New Delhi. There are indications that PM Modi will visit the Jewish state on February 27-28.

PM Modi to visit Israel after 9 years

This is the first visit to Israel in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term. Previously, PM Modi visited Israel nine years ago in 2017. The 2017 visit of the Indian Prime Minister coincided with the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During this visit, cooperation in defense, cybersecurity, agriculture, and counter-terrorism was discussed. PM Modi will now meet Netanyahu again, where the two will have a lengthy conversation. The two leaders share a deep personal friendship. The meeting is expected to discuss bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global developments, including the security situation in West Asia.

PM Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke earlier this year, their second in two months. During this meeting, Netanyahu briefed the Indian Prime Minister on the implementation and progress of the Gaza Peace Plan. PM Modi reiterated India's continued support for a just and lasting peace in the region.
