Islamabad: Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that India can attack anytime. He said that Pakistan is on high alert, we have strengthened our army and if there is a "direct threat to our existence", it will use nuclear weapons. In the last one week, Khawaja Asif has warned India of war dozens of times. Apart from him, all the leaders of Pakistan are busy threatening India with war. Tensions between India and Pakistan are at their peak after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
What the Pakistani defence minister said
"We have strengthened our forces because this is something that is now imminent. So in that situation some strategic decisions have to be taken, so those decisions have been taken," he said. He alleged that India's rhetoric was escalating and that Pakistan's military had briefed the government about the possibility of an Indian attack. He did not give further details about his reasons for saying an invasion was imminent. The minister said Pakistan was on high alert and would use its nuclear weapons only if there was a "direct threat to our existence."
Firing continues along India-Pakistan border
The Indian army said it responded to "unprovoked" small arms firing from multiple Pakistan army posts along the 740-km (460-mile) de facto border separating the Indian and Pakistani sectors of Kashmir around midnight on Sunday. It gave no further details and reported no casualties. The Pakistani military did not respond to a request for comment.
Nawaz Sharif appeals for peace
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif advised his younger brother and current PM Shahbaz Sharif to use all available diplomatic resources to restore peace with India. He said that he is against adopting an aggressive stance. The two brothers met in Lahore on Sunday evening. During this, Shahbaz informed Nawaz, the founder of the ruling political party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), about his government's decisions taken against India. These decisions were announced after the meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC).
Pakistani minister threatens missile attack
Pakistani Cabinet Minister Hanif Abbasi had threatened India by saying that he has kept 130 nuclear weapons only for India. Abbasi threatened India to be ready for war if it dares to stop Pakistan's water. Abbasi said, "We have not kept these Gori, Shaheen, Ghaznavi (missiles) to decorate the squares. We have kept them for India. We have not kept the 130 nuclear weapons just to make models. You do not know in which parts of Pakistan we have kept them."
