European country Poland has been worried about Russia since the Ukraine war started. Poland feels that Russia's attack can move beyond Ukraine to other countries of Europe and its land. However, it is not clear what stand US President Donald Trump will take on this.
Duda believes that today's Russia is as aggressive as the Soviet Union. The kind of policy Putin is following has put Europ in danger. Duda believes that the deployment of American nuclear weapons in Poland is a necessary step in today's delicate environment. This will make Poland strong and safe in front of Russia. This will also be a response to Russia's deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus. Belarus, Poland, Ukraine and Russia are neighboring countries.
Nuclear weapons are becoming a need for Poland
In an interview to BBC's Jeremy Bowen at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, Duda said, 'Russia under Putin's leadership is a clear and big threat from Poland's point of view. Today's Russia is killing civilians in Ukraine and bombing civilian settlements. It is taking its nuclear weapons to Belarus. In such a situation, Poland is also ready to host nuclear weapons.
When asked how the presence of nuclear weapons would make Poland safe, Duda said that it would show America's commitment to Polish security. Duda has also welcomed the proposal from French President Emmanuel Macron to extend the umbrella of French nuclear weapons to NATO countries. He also said that Poland has increased its defense expenditure.
