Moscow: The Russian army has said that President Vladimir Putin's helicopter was attacked during his visit to the Kursk region this week. Russia says that Putin's helicopter almost came under the attack of Ukraine's drone. Russian military officer Yuri Dashkin has claimed that Vladimir Putin's helicopter narrowly escaped the drone attack. Dashkin said that Ukraine had intensified drone attacks on Russia between 20 and 22 May. Especially during Putin's visit to Kursk, Ukraine's drone attacks increased. The Russian commander said that Putin's helicopter was at the center of Ukraine's attack while passing over the Kursk region.
Russian commander Dashkin said in his statement that during Putin's visit to Kursk, Russian air defense shot down a large number of Ukrainian drones. He said that when the President's helicopter was in Kursk, we fought an air battle and kept the President's helicopter safe. We were engaged in an air battle and were ensuring the safety of the President's helicopter because his helicopter was surrounded by drones.
Putin has visited Kursk
The Kremlin said that Putin visited the Kursk region on May 21. During his visit, Putin visited Kursk and Kurchatov. This area is less than 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Russia has talked about taking control of the Kursk region from Ukraine in April this year. After this, Putin visited this area. However, the fighting is still going on on the border of this region.
Russia has accused Ukraine of a drone attack on President Putin's helicopter at a time when the fighting between the two countries is intensifying. The Russian army on Sunday carried out the biggest drone and missile attack on Ukraine so far. In the drone attack, Russia has targeted a large part of Ukraine, including the capital Kiev. According to Ukrainian officials, at least 12 people have lost their lives in Russian air strikes.
