Beijing/Moscow: Russian weapons certainly forced Pakistan to kneel during Operation Sindoor, but Moscow's silence has raised serious questions about Putin's policy in the world of diplomacy. Russia maintained complete silence during India's Operation Sindoor, while China's tone was threatening to India. China indirectly stood with Pakistan and it is believed that China helped the Pakistan Air Force in networking and electronic warfare. Apart from this, China had also handed over PL-15 missile to Pakistan just before the war with India, which it used against India. Hence, questions are being raised that the way China is standing with Pakistan, will it openly become a partner of Pakistan during future wars? Should India now prepare for a 'two front war' under all circumstances.
Apart from this, the most important question that is being raised is about the role of Russia. Russia, which has always been a tried and trusted partner of India, its silence has raised questions on the relations between Moscow and Delhi, whether Russia, burdened by China's favors, is no longer capable of standing with India. But the reality is also that whenever Pakistan has imposed war, India has faced the war alone every time, except in 1971, when Russia stood in support of India. While China could not stand directly with Pakistan due to many reasons, it has been giving full support from within. In such a situation, Chinese help to Pakistan is not a new thing for India.
The challenge of 'two front war' against India
Writing in the Eurasian Times report, geo-political defense expert Prakash Nanda has written that India has faced the challenge of 'two front war' in every war against Pakistan. In terms of strategy, there are two types of 'two front war'. The first is supporting as a secret ally and the second is direct fight. After Operation Sindoor, the meaning of 'two front war' has changed and the possibility of China's direct involvement in the next war has become the highest, because China has now realized that Pakistan is not capable of fighting India alone under any circumstances. Therefore, China, which was till now secretly supporting Pakistan against India by giving moral, political and military support, can openly become Pakistan's war partner against India in the future.
Prakash Nanda has written that if we turn the pages of history, then in 1962 China attacked India and since then a very strong relationship started developing between China and Pakistan. In 1963, Pakistan handed over a large part of POK (Shaksgam Valley) to China. Due to which China directly reached near the Ladakh border of India. At the same time, when the war was fought between India and Pakistan in 1965, China threatened India with war on the pretext of "border violation" on the Sikkim border. Therefore, at that time also the danger of two front war loomed. During that time, India had gathered its five mountain divisions on the northern border to counter the aggression of China. But China did not enter the battlefield. Even in the 1971 war, when the Bangladesh Liberation War was going on, China took the side of Pakistan against India and strongly criticized Russia for supporting Delhi. China, taking Pakistan's side, accused India and Russia of "expansionism" and promised to protect Pakistan's "sovereignty". At that time, China called Russian help 'shameful'. However, even at that time China did not directly enter the war against India. But it helped Pakistan heavily through arms, ammunition, trainers.
Operation Sindoor... Now India should be ready for a two-front war
Even during Operation Sindoor, China's official stance was seen to be balanced. But Beijing called India's airstrike 'tragic'. Although it did not issue a statement of giving direct military support to Pakistan, Chinese social media, Chinese newspapers and Chinese experts were constantly busy spreading propaganda in favor of Pakistan. Pakistan has been described as the winner in China. Especially the Chinese fighter aircraft J-10C has been described as 'decisive' in the war against India. But the Chinese government's stance was not aggressive, which was quite different from its stance on the South China Sea issue or Taiwan. But China has now started making Pakistan stronger. It is believed that by the month of August, it will hand over the fifth generation fighter aircraft J-35A to the Pakistan Air Force.
China has sold weapons worth about $ 8.2 billion to Pakistan since 2015. According to the Eurasian Times, Pakistan alone consumed 63% of China's total arms exports from 2020 to 2024. This includes tanks, fighter jets, air-defense systems and ammunition. Despite this, China has never signed a formal "Mutual Defense Treaty" with Pakistan, like the US has done with NATO or Japan/South Korea. These facts show that China is not taking any steps to strengthen its strategic partnership.
