Naypyidaw: Even amid the devastation caused by the earthquake, the Myanmar army is carrying out airstrikes and drone attacks on its own people. The Myanmar army, called the junta, is still brutally killing people. In fact, in February 2021, the army overthrew the country's government in Myanmar. Since then Myanmar is burning in the fire of civil war, in which hundreds of people have been killed. The army and the common people are face to face. Many rebel groups have been formed in the country, which have constantly fought with the army. Due to which Myanmar has been constantly burning in the fire of civil war. But bombing people during a natural disaster is crossing all limits of cruelty.
The BBC report says that even after the earthquake in Myanmar, the military council has continued air strikes and drone attacks. According to reports, airstrikes have also been carried out in the earthquake-affected area of Sagaing. The earthquake has caused a lot of damage in this area, yet the army has fired here. According to the Chaung U Township People's Defense Force, Nwe Khwe village in Chaung U Township of Sagaing was bombed twice at around 19:40 local time. Apart from this, the army has carried out two more attacks in Le Wah in Kayin state, near the Karen National Union headquarters, and in Pyu in Bago region.

Myanmar gained independence from Britain in 1948, but there has never been peace in the country. Myanmar has witnessed unrest and military rule for years. In 2011, it seemed that Myanmar had finally embarked on the path of democracy when it was decided to hold free elections after four years. Aung San Suu Kyi won this election. But in 2021, all hopes for democracy were dashed when the government led by General Min Aung Hlaing was overthrown and a democratic government was overthrown. The army detained Nobel Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi and other members of her government. Many allegations were leveled against them, including fraud in voting. Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy party had won with more than 80% of the votes.
But after this coup, large-scale protests began. Thousands of people took to the streets to protest against the military rule and demanded the restoration of civilian rule. Violence between civilians and the army continued to increase rapidly. In which the army used brutal force using tear gas and rubber bullets against the crowd. Human rights groups believe that hundreds of people have been killed and thousands injured in this crackdown.
But at a time when Myanmar is reeling from a powerful earthquake and the country is on the verge of collapse due to various rebel groups, the army is still not showing any signs of understanding. The Myanmar army has suddenly increased the death toll very rapidly and has said that the death toll has crossed one thousand and 2376 people have been injured. The most deaths due to the earthquake have occurred in Mandalay city, which is closest to the epicenter. Relief and rescue operations are underway, but a rescue team in Mandalay has said that they are "pulling people out with their bare hands". India has sent its teams to Myanmar for help, but democratic countries will have to talk to the Myanmar army that it should not be cruel to people during a natural disaster.
