Storm Havoc in America: 27 Dead, Worst Hit is Kentucky with 18 Casualties

Kentucky: At least 27 people have died due to storms in the entire mid-west and south of America. 18 of these people died due to the tornado in Kentucky. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said on Saturday that 18 people died in his state and 10 others have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. The devastating storm in Kentucky damaged houses and vehicles and left many people homeless.

Beshear said that parts of two dozen roads in the state have been closed and some may take several days to reopen. He said that the death toll is expected to increase. Many people have also died in Missouri. Mayor Kara Spencer of St. Louis, Missouri, said that five people were killed in her city, 38 people were injured and more than 5,000 houses were affected.

Storm caused devastation

These storms were part of a severe weather system on Friday that caused tornadoes in Wisconsin, millions of people in the Great Lakes region had to live without electricity and severe hot winds in Texas. Buildings were damaged, trees and power poles fell due to the storm on Friday afternoon. Officials have appealed to the local people to move to safe places. Spencer said that it is really devastating.

The sheriff's office said that rescue workers are helping the people. Emergency shelters have been set up in local schools. Meteorologist Philomen Gertson said that the storm spread largely in the rural area and spread to London Corbin Airport shortly before midnight.
